I am really picky. I like my hair down but it is big and puffy! I am not sure what I should do with up? I would like it to be nice but simlpy.

For formal-ish events, I like my hair down because it just looks more....nice, I suppose. Curls. Curls are always fun. I Say curl all of your hair with simply a curling iron. Then pull back a few strands around your ears and clip them in the back. It's simple, yet it adds a lot. Oh, and of course you'll need a bunch of hair spray or gel.

Blow dry

Straighten

Use a curling iron

and do curls.

I think halfway pulled back with some ringlet curls, and a few draping in front of your face would be great :)

Well, it kind of depends on what kind of back your dress has. If you have a backless or really low back one it would look better down. If it's just like spaghetti straps or something then up would be fine too. Why don't you try putting half up and half down with curls? or you could always get it done professionally.
